As I mentioned yesterday, it has been awhile since I have posted on the blog. So I figured I should let you guys know what has been going on around here over the last two months.
JUNE
Father’s Day: I found out I was pregnant a few days before and decided to wait until Father’s day to tell Stephen. Henry helped decorate a card for Stephen by scribbling on it with crayons and I signed the card “Love, Emma, Henry and Baby #2”. The look of shock on Stephen’s face when he read the card was priceless!!
Our Anniversary: My parents volunteered to watch Henry for the weekend while we went to Stone Mountain, GA. It was weird at first not to have our little tag along, but we quickly let all thoughts of diapers, strollers and sippy cups slip from our minds as we enjoyed each others (uninterrupted) company.
The central feature of Stone Mountain is this massive stone with a huge carving of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. You can hike up to the top if you would like but we chose to take the cable car.
The park has lots of things to see and do but most of the park is geared for kids so there were several attractions that we didn’t stop at. We did however go through the museum, ride the train around the mountain, play mini golf, see the plantation and watch the 4D movie.
Our favorite part of the park was the three story obstacle course called Skyhike. You are fitted with a harness which is attached to a cable that runs in a track over your head. As you go through the course you have to walk across tight ropes and over swinging bridges to make your way from platform to platform. At first I held on pretty tightly to the different cables and ropes but towards the end I tested my balancing skills more by walking across things without holding on. This part of the park also had a rock climbing wall which Stephen conquered.
I suppose no visit to Stone Mountain would be complete without watching the laser show. We stayed till dark to watch the moving images set to music projected up on the stone. Although it was cool to see what they could do with lasers I can’t say I was too impressed with the show.
JULY
………..ummmmm………well……….uhhhhhhhh…….. I don’t remember much of this month. For whatever reason my morning sickness has been WAY worse this time around. July was the worst. If I was conscious, I was nauseous. Therefore I tried my hardest to be unconscious by sleeping during Henry’s nap time, going to bed early and laying on the sofa with my eyes closed as much as possible. Our house was a wreck but somehow we managed to wear clean clothes and eat food (although I can’t say they were real meals).
Well, Henry is waking up from his nap and this post is starting to get long. I guess I’ll call this part one and tell you about August later. Hope you all have enjoyed your summer! What fun things have you been doing?
Let’s get together!
