Friday Five {Vol. 5}

Here are five things that made me smile this week.

1. Mixer.  Ever since I have had a kitchen of my own I have asked for a stand mixer for every birthday and Christmas.  I’ve burned out the motors on a couple of hand mixers because they simply were not strong enough to mix up cookie dough.  Guess what Stephen got for me this last Christmas!?  My awesome red Kitchenaid mixer! 🙂  I LOVE it!DSC02602

2. Soap.  Have you ever made soap before?  I tried it for the first time this week and it is a lot of fun.  It has such a yummy smell and the shea butter is so creamy. Note to self: Next time buy a real mold so they don’t turn out to be such a funky size.  Note to reader: Please overlook my not so nice handwriting.DSC03019

3. Washi tape.  I just want to add little stripes of color to everything now.  Doesn’t it make this package look so cheerful?DSC03042

4. Patient and flexible Hubby.  I’m so glad that Stephen humors me when I delve into little projects like making soap instead of doing more important things like….cleaning the bathroom or making dinner sometime before 8 pm.

5. Big boys and their toys.  Stephen just got a log splitter this week and he is super excited about it.  That big bad machine weighs 360 lbs and comes unassembled.  When they loaded it onto the trailer with a forklift I was a little worried about how we would get it off the trailer.  Lets just say I got quite the arm work out while trying to help Stephen put it together.DSC03006

So what made you smile this week?

  1. Love the mixer,soap, tape, and cool machinery. One question…when did you add a working fireplace to your home??? I want your energy and passion for learning and doing new things. Wish you lived next door. Miss you , Aunt Ruth

    • We don’t have a fireplace, we have a wood burning stove in our office. Stephen installed it himself last fall (that was quite the undertaking) and we used it exclusively to heat our home this winter. We love it and it has helped to cut down on our electric bill! Up until now Stephen has been cutting all of the wood by hand.

      There are all kinds of things that I have wanted to try but never did when I was working full time. I was always so tired when I got home from work. Now that I stay at home I’m making up for lost time! That would be awesome if we lived next door to each other. Can you imagine all the shenanigans we would get into! 🙂

      Love ya too!!

  2. Oh hi! .. All most forgot to make my list!
