Henry’s tummy time usually starts out like this first picture. No squeals of delight, just the look of concentration. Then he starts to moan about how hard it is to keep his big ol’ head up. And no matter how much I cheer him he always gives up and cries.
I guess I often do the same thing. Life gets tough and it is easy to just give up. I am reminded of the verse that says “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31. I always pictured the renewing of strength mentioned in the verse to be the same as having my battery recharged. However, I heard in a sermon on the radio one time (sorry, I don’t remember who it was) that the word renew in the verse meant replace. Meaning that God does more that just refresh my meager human strength, He replaces my strength with His infinite strength!! So, when life gets you down don’t be a knuckle head and try to muddle through on your own, look to God who can help you through any situation. 🙂
