I did a little brainstorming session to come up with a list of fun new activities for my ten month old and decided to share them with you over the next month in a series called 20 Days of Playing With Baby. None of these ideas are Earth shattering, supper cool, never been done before activities but maybe you haven’t tried them before or maybe they will help spark a fun new activity of your own.

For this activity I used:
- Musical instrument toys
- Rice
- Empty baby food jars
- Dowel rod
- Jingle bells
- String
- Empty Gatorade tub
Henry likes music but didn’t have very many musical instruments so I decided to make a few more for him to play with. As you can see in the picture below I filled two empty baby food jars with dry rice to make some shakers. I had Stephen drill a few holes through dowel rods and I tied jingle bells to them. And finally I used an empty Gatorade tub as a drum.
I got this xylophone at a garage sale several months ago. Instead of striking it with a mallet you spin the wheels to make the sound. I liked that Henry was able to play with it when he was younger and just starting to bat at toys.
Henry loved to play with the bells.
But his favorite was the drum!
This piano is a toy that I used to play with as a kid and since Henry always tries to climb on top of it I usually keep it put away in the closet. He was pretty eager to with it today.
